Cleanup Windows Installer Unused Files
Windows Installer is an essential component for Windows Operating System, which lets users install, uninstall and maintain software programs. When you install a program, which use Windows Installer, the setup will create a directory (%SystemRoot%\Installer) and backup necessary files in that directory in order to repair, update or uninstall the program at a later time.
However, if you cancel an installation before it complete, files extracted to %SystemRoot%\Installer directory will not be deleted. Over the time, this directory flooded with megabytes of junk files!
If you are one of those people who like to do a regular cleanup on their computer, here is how to delete Windows Installer unused files with a simple tool called WICleanup.
WICleanup is a little, portable tool and quite easy to use. Download and extract the zip file. Right click the ‘wiclleanupUI.exe’ and select ‘Run as administrator’ (in Windows 7) and then click ‘Scan’ button. It will scan and list used files. Select files and delete them.
